Program description | Suicide assessment, prevention, and intervention is a topic relevant to all nursing care providers. Research shows that most people who commit suicide have a diagnosable mental and/or substance use disorder. This program will explore the critical elements of assessing for suicide risk in the general population and special populations including military/veterans, adolescents, elderly, and LGBT. It will review key strategies in providing effective suicide prevention and provide hands on application of evidence-based intervention tools.This course is approved by the Washington State Department of Health (Approval #TRNG.TG.60717225-SUIC) to meet the new 2017 WA requirement for 6.0 contact hours in suicide assessment, prevention, and management for registered nurses, advanced practice registered nurses, and licensed practical nurses. |
