Program description
Accounting is often referred to as the language of business. This reference is because the primary function of accounting is to provide key financial information to business stakeholders to be used in assessing the economic performance and condition of a business. Professional careers in accounting can be found in the following specialized fields: managerial accounting, public accounting, forensic accounting, cost accounting, not-for-profit accounting, tax accounting, and international accounting. Additionally, an accounting degree serves as a excellent springboard for careers in business, business management, business consulting, business information systems and for advanced degrees in business administration and law. Those choosing to enter the field of accounting should have strong problem solving abilities, excellent oral and written communication skills, and quantitative skills.
