Make a Plan

The High School and Beyond Plan is a Washington graduation requirement. It's also a tool to chart your future, and the education steps to get you there. Consider this plan your personal roadmap to help you get where you want to go. Remember, you can always change your plan as your interests change.

First...answer these three questions

  • Who am I?
  • What do I want to be?
  • What education and skills do I need?

Take the Career Bridge career quiz

Find out how your interests line up with a career, when you take the career quiz. Quiz results are sorted into Career Clusters. Each Cluster contains related occupations. This helps you focus on careers that make sense for you!

Explore education as part of your High School and Beyond plan

Explore education options, whether it's a technical school or trade school, a community college or university. Maybe you're interested in the military. Or looking at high-skill, high-wage apprenticeships. All of these options are on Career Bridge.

Stay on track with graduation credit requirements, more

Make sure to take classes that meet your district's graduation requirements. You'll also want to tailor your transcripts to reflect your education and career goals. For example, if you're headed to a four-year university directly after high school, you'll need a certain number of world language credits and to have passed a certain level of math.

Parents and counselors can help you with your High School and Beyond Plan

Make sure you work with your parents, teachers and counselors to create a plan that's right for you. More information is available in your school's counseling office.

You can also get more information from the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction and the State Board of Education.
