Program description | The Medical Assistant Program prepares a student to work within the medical office with skills in office administrative tasks as well as clinical and patient care skills. Students must meet minimum entrance standards and be accepted for enrollment after application to the department. The Major Courses for the Medical Assistant program are offered over a four quarter sequence, beginning in Fall Quarter of each year. The fourth quarter of the program will be offered in the Summer in which students will be active in externships throughout the health care community. Students may complete General Education requirements and Major Support courses flexibly, either before or after completion of the Medical Assistant Major Courses. |

Entrance requirements | Prerequisites that must be filled prior to application to the Medical Assistant program include: (1) be prepared for Math 83 or higher, (2) have a reading ability at the Reading 99 level or higher, (3) have a current health care provider CPR card, (4) have a current first aid card, and (5) have completed a minimum of seven documented hours of HIV education.
